A lady came to see me the other day with intense pain around the whole of her head. All. The. Time.
She’s had it constantly for 7 months, causing dangerous, sudden bouts of dizziness, particularly when changing position (laying to sitting, to standing etc) or when changing direction.
The pain radiates down into both shoulders, and she suffers with prickly fingers and numb toes to boot. She also has a cavenoma.
She had written confirmation from her consultant that he was happy for manual work to be carried out, so we proceeded.
I don’t mind telling you this was a slightly daunting first consultation! We went through her history in great detail before starting on some assessments. We found dysfunctional core muscles, linked to one of her eye muscles. Sure enough when we did some eye testing, it was evident there were issues. We did some very gentle release work. There were tears. Tears of sheer joy at the relief.
For the first time in 7 months, nothing but the ghost of a headache as she got up off the couch. Homework was set, and off she went with a smile on her face. Today we had our second session. She reported no major headaches since our session. A few minor ones, but they’ve been transient, rather than constant. Her balance has improved and she hasn’t been dizzy all week. 🧠💪🏻
She couldn’t understand why I was getting emotional. I explained, how pleased I was that she had understood what was happening, the need for her to complete her homework in a safe manner, and to own what was happening to her. I explained I show people the door (their dysfunctions) but they have to walk through the door to take control of their lives again.
After we both pulled ourselves together, we worked on a scar from a lumbar puncture which was causing some other issues, but maybe we’ll save that story for another day 😊👍🏻
I cry in clinic too ❤️
Truly amazing to help people like this.
