Half Marathon completed

So pleased with today’s result 🤩

I had a regular client and runner (training for a half marathon) come to clinic a few weeks back. Their lower leg was numb and felt like they’d been “shot by a gun” after a run.
My initial concern was a possible rupture, most likely in the Soleus muscle judging by where they were pointing.

We ran through some initial testing. It seemed highly unlikely a tear or rupture had occurred, but continued cautiously. We looked at their gait, and the left leg failed, unsurprisingly.
In the end we found a local relationship between an over active Tibialis posterior and under active Soleus, Rectus femoris and Psoas, likely as a result of upping their training to gain some speed in the last few weeks.

With gentle corrections, and some fascial work, we managed to restore balance to the movement pattern. They also needed rest!

Saying this to anyone that’s active is awful news to hear, but to someone that’s been training for one event all year, was clearly devastating.

All credit to my client, they listened to my reasoning, took all of my advice on board, and were therefore ready to attempt the run this morning.
They did amazingly, getting in 11s before the time they were aiming for 🥇so pleased to have been able to help, and be part of their journey 🤩
