A new client was referred to clinic. A World Record holder, regularly competing at world and national levels experienced unexplained spontaneous acute compartment syndrome. Numerous surgeries using the same scar line followed. Nerve pain in the affected leg, an “electrical storm” in the foot, drop foot and an unstable ankle, despite extensive (and excellent quality) rehab were the presenting state of play.
2 sessions in and there had been “no pain”. A session later, there had been “no electrical activity in the foot”. Another session and the electrical activity in the lower leg was quietening too.
So far, so amazing. So how did we do this?
We assessed both when the client was static and during movement, matching their requirements in both postures. We then made two limbic corrections, one to clear a kinaesthetic trigger. There’s been some cranial work. Some neurolymphatic work. A lot of scar work linked to global and intrinsic patterns as well as more local dysfunction.
Sometimes there’s homework, sometimes we need the new patterns to integrate as they are. Irrespective there has been commitment and dedication from the client.
There’s a lot of work which has gone into these 6 hours. We were able to prioritise which to do first, mapping out the progression through the session and beyond into the next, ensuring throughout that the client (‘s nervous system) felt safe at all times. Remaining in a parasympathetic state is essential to making lasting corrections and resolving fully the issues and compensations which are present.
As an added bonus a portion of the scar which was struggling to heal after the last surgery (6 months ago) expelled a foreign body after treatment, and is now healing correctly.
Full disclosure, after a break from routine, and actually having a week off training, some of the electrical activity returned.
As discussed before rehab can be an up and down experience, and rarely linear in progression. It is still very early days for such a complex and extensive case, but very excited by the progress made, and the opportunity to help.
