Scoliosis

A client (who travelled down from London) today presented in clinic with a complex series of symptoms, the stand out one being their scoliosis.
Looking through their history, it started after an emotionally traumatic event, and throughout their life, would get worse when they found themselves emotionally challenged.

They are amazing at movement and are very body aware, working consistently on their ergonomics as they move, live, work.
They’ve had work done in the past, and they presented today with a complex scoliosis.

In the pictures you can see (I’ve highlighted in green for those who need a little help seeing it) a complex series of curves. The first was taken after assessment (hence all the pen marks) but before any treatment. The last photo shows the spine post treatment, after we’d attempted to challenge the system – complex movements etc. Only a very slight curvature remains in the lower neck. This ties with neuro physical findings, and will form part of their homework to reinforce the work done in clinic.

Many people think scoliosis only occurs as S curves, but it comes in many different varieties. Scoliosis also, very often, has an emotional component, whether conscious or not. This makes it VERY treatable with a touch and movement based approach. Surgery doesn’t have to be the only option.
