Am I an energy worker?

As a therapist, we work with people in specific ways.
When you’re in need you look for a therapist which matches what your perceived needs are.

As we take more courses (hopefully) our understanding and insight grows, and so to our methodology develops, adapts and changes as well.

As a bodyworker I’ve been through several transformative processes, each allowing a greater insight into what is truly going on with people*, but still allowing all that I have learnt to be utilised in practice.

With each subtle (or not so subtle) shift in approach there will be those clients who align with my methods, and those who don’t.

One barrier people have struggled with, which has been thrown under the spotlight somewhat recently, is the use of ‘energy work’.

We are energetic beings.
We rely on chemical energy to keep our cells working. Electrical energy to coordinate anything and everything. On a more global scale we can tell when there is someone behind us, or if there’s a ‘bad vibe’ when we walk into a room.

As a PT, my enthusiasm (energy) towards the session was what makes it great, not the exercises, location or equipment used.

As a massage therapist, yes I use various manual techniques to help ‘squish’ your muscles. Is this movement of soft tissue not also allowing the better flow of energy around this area and the rest of your body?
Fascial techniques the same as above, we have scientific evidence (in peer reviewed journals) the fascia sends electrical impulses (energy) to and from the autonomic nervous system. Working on the fascia affects the flow of energy.

Techniques integrating with the motor control centre in the brain typically relying on down regulating one area, and up regulating another. This is done using a number of techniques which affect the flow of energy to each respective area.

In my current practice we investigate multiple areas of your being to establish what’s going on, and how best to resolve your pain. We use limbic resonance (an energetic connection) to do this.
The use of finger magnets, is just the flow of energy from one spot to another.

In all these cases there has also been an interaction of our energy – yes even in remote sessions across the globe.

What I’m doing isn’t ‘voodoo’. It isn’t ‘magic’. It isn’t Reiki (I’m not trained and wouldn’t know where to start). It’s not spiritualism.
It’s just human connection, and I honestly don’t see it as any different to what I’ve always done.

If you align with my way of working, you are welcome. If you don’t, that’s okay too, we all need to find our own way, and align with what is true for each of us.

*I also recognise I still have much to learn.
