A pain in the neck

A client presented in clinic with chronic bilateral neck and shoulder pain. They had occasional headaches, and minor continence issues since the birth of their last child.
They would get coccyx discomfort when they sat working at their laptop for prolonged periods at work. This also seemed to be the trigger for the neck and shoulder pain. There were a few scars from childhood falls, but no surgeries and no piercings of note (the bottom of the ear lobes tend not to affect us too much).

After some investigation we found an over active medial rectus muscle in the eye.
This coexisted in a compensation pattern with the opposite medial rectus, the left deep transverse perineal muscle and the left and right ischiocavernosus muscles.
To cut through all the anatomy speak, essentially eye muscles and some pelvic floor muscles.

The amazing bit was correcting this pattern completely resolved the neck and shoulder issues. No aches, no pains at all. They were diligent with their homework and their neck and shoulder comfort continues to this day.

They are self aware enough, after some coaching at sign off, to know when things might be about to take a turn for the worse, and are able to resolve things them self > self care is soooo important for long term health 👍🏻
(We carry out a check up every 3 months or so to keep tabs on things).
