Last night I went to a viewing of @birthtimeworld ‘s Birth Time: The documentary. I stood out as the only man in the cinema. It was an informative, transformative, powerful, traumatic viewing experience, yet I’ve never felt so supported and seen – an interesting experience in a public cinema surrounded by strangers.
If you’re a woman who’s had a pregnancy, going to have a pregnancy, are pregnant, or know someone who is, has been or might get pregnant, if you have a daughter, or might have a daughter ‘in law’ at some point, please watch this film. If you’re a man, who might interact or support any of these women, go and watch the film.
You absolutely MUST watch this film if you work in the obstetrics / healthcare profession!
If you missed the screenings in your area, they are now streaming it. Get some friends / family together sit down and have a laugh, a cry, and come out of the experience a different person.
If we want it to change, and we need it to change, we have to be part of the change.
Those inside the system have a huge responsibility to themselves, their profession and their women, but we as service users also have to get our voices heard.
