Decades old knee scar key to current pain

Knee pain – it usually comes to us all at some point, sometimes when we do something daft, at other times for seemingly no reason.
Sometimes you might need an operation, and increasingly these are done with keyhole surgery – they have many many benefits, but Rehab is rarely completed effectively.
But more often than not people report they’re unable to kneel on that knee post surgery, for quite some time, or ever.

Today I had one such case. Back in the 90’s they had an operation on their right knee. For the most part it hasn’t given them much grief since. 👍🏻
But this last weekend a new bed was delivered. 😳 This required assembly, and a significant amount of crawling around on hands and knees to get the finished product looking as gorgeous as it had in the showroom.

Unfortunately this caused significant swelling around the lower and medial aspects of the knee (patella and infrapatella bursa). There was also significant pain coming from the hamstring area.

We first tested the quads, nothing. We looked at the scar and the quads started working. Released the scar, activated the quads, and we’re underway 🤔 those ligaments probably aren’t too happy though let’s look at those I thought.
Sure enough the medial collateral ligament was overworking, and the lateral underworking, released and activated and we were getting somewhere. Finally that hamstring pain 🤔 turned out the hamstrings were fine, but popliteus was not a happy bunny. Sorted that out and we had a functioning leg and knee again. 🍾

There’s homework to do!!!! 🧠💪🏻
I can help with identifying what’s going on, but the really hard work is down to you.
