It’s not just the ladies which suffer pelvic floor issues, or scars in that region for that matter.
A client was recently referred to me for general leg pain, although it typically focused around his knee.
In the initial consultation, we discovered that his intrinsic core had virtually shut down.
As I explained in session, if the limbs aren’t supported by the core, they have to try to ambulated and stabilise at the same time, this over taxes muscle groups which can lead to dysfunction and pain.
Whilst we could have focused on the knee pain, this would have been futile without his core working first. Understanding how the body works and prioritises things is key to an effective recovery, and optimised movement patterns.
It turned out a small scar, seen by just a select few, created almost forty years ago when a glandular issue needed correcting was the culprit.
When surgeons operate on the testes (opening up the scrotum) they have a choice; they can either make two nicks on each side (please if you, or anyone you know needs surgery of this kind go for the two entry option!); or address both with a single, deft cut up the middle.
The later was used in this case, and it caused a few issues – from a neuromuscular stand point.
Using the scar specific protocol, (which doesn’t require me to be working directly on the area affected 👍🏻) he was able to identify areas of dysfunction, and how to resolve them.
A week later, he’d been doing his homework, and was very pleased to report he hadn’t noticed any knee discomfort when running for a train. All without going anywhere near his knee 😁
It’s early days, but he’s off to a cracking start 😊
More testing and more homework to do but this should be resolved reasonably quickly 🧠💪🏻
