Post partum diastasic recti

Diastasis recti is more common than people realise. It can happen in both men and women, and may occur in those with breathing and or circulatory issues, those who have had abdominal surgery or in those with acid reflux (GERD).
Diastasis recti – the partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominus (6 pack) muscle is most talked about post partum however.

Today’s client presented with a diastasis just below the belly button. Approximately 2cm and 3cm wide – easy to miss if you don’t know what to look for!

Using a combination of NKT and my own scar work protocol we were able to reduce this to just 0.5cm by 0.5cm in around 10 minutes. There is some homework to do to ensure complete resolution, but that is thankfully very easy to do.
What was interesting about this case, is the scar wasn’t related to the birth of the baby, but rather their own birth – the belly button is,after all, our first proper scar.

(We obviously talked about clothing which is too tight causing circulatory issues to 😉)
