When bugs bite

🌞 A scorching bank holiday means everyone’s in their gardens, for some it marks the start of a DIY project, for others, a time to relax and enjoy the vitamin D production.

It’s also a favoured time of the pesky critters that like to take a nibble. Some tolerate this more than others. An interesting case came in on Saturday – client was in for their 3-monthly once over, a bit like an MOT 🚙

They presented with no aches or pains, no movement or mobility restrictions, so I was surprised to find everything was switched off – EVERYTHING!

This can happen when the amount of input into the body is more than can be managed.

If you’ve heard me take about this in clinic I liken it to a bucket in your brain. All the inputs – temperature, lighting, smells, tastes, hydration levels, activity levels, trauma, emotional and psychological states etcetera – get dumped into the bucket. The brain is able to process these in normal circumstances. When one or more of the inputs increases its level too much, the bucket gets over full, and the brain can’t process everything. This typically results in the (sometimes not so subtle) activation of the ‘fight, flight or freeze’ response. 🧠😱

This in turn can result in everything (artificially) switching on, or everything (artificially) switching off. This masks any true dysfunctions, and needs to be resolved.

In this case it was relatively simple. We tracked it to an insect bite just above the ankle. Using a scar correction protocol, we were able to discern the vector the tissues needed to be released, and which muscles needed switching back on to allow the system to balance, and level of the bucket to return to normal.
Because we caught it early, no dysfunctional patterns had set in, so a little homework, self care, and looking after the healing of the bite, will mean they’ll be back to normal in no time 😊
